LENTEN CONVERSATIONS – Beginning March 23, 1:00 pm join us on Mondays at the church for an hour and a half -ish of conversation and reflection.  We will use scripture stories as our jumping off place, and will add in our own memories, our understandings, and our questions- which is to say our own sacred stories. "Fear Not" if you have to miss a week.  While the weeks will link in their own way, they are all free standing.  We will love to have you whenever you can participate!

OUR KELLY!

It takes a special minister who can plan and motivate,
Someone who can organize, design and demonstrate;
A person with commitment, one with open mind;
One who can be flexible, compassionate and kind.

One to cultivate a dream and help the dream come true;
To plant the seeds of knowledge; be a good example too;
And help someone to wonder, to question, to explore
And discover worlds untold while searching far for more.

Her personal dreams are put on hold to always give the best
No matter if the busy day refuses needed rest.
Her hectic day is endless; her list of chores is long,
All the while to be on guard if something might go wrong.

A call to make, a hurried lunch, a sermon to complete,
An unknown guest dropping in, a parishioner to meet,
Today’s agenda yet to plan, and Sunday’s bulletin too,
And the children’s story to prepare before the day is through.

Photocopies to run off, a long report to write,
A visit to the sick to make, and a meeting yet tonight.
Gifts of charity from our church to take to those in need
Hymns for Jane to help her choose; unopened mail to read.

Each day is so demanding; frustration takes its toll
And next day’s schedule to prepare while burning midnight oil.
Although the road is often rough with bumps along the way,
Just knowing that a life was touched helps make the preacher’s day.

A new year just around the bend, how fast this year has gone!
But despite the obstacles and fears, sweet memories linger on.
And though there’s still so much to do, the clock will say it’s time
To turn the calendar page again and leave another year behind.

And when her office door is closed and a new year starts again,
The Master Preacher checks her year from beginning to the end;
He sees each progress that she made and marvels at each one,
Then puts a gold star on each page and writes in gold, “Well done!”
(Kaye Lister)

GREETER SIGN UP SHEET – Just a reminder that there is a "Greeter Schedule” posted at the back door. If you would like to volunteer to be a greeter some Sunday morning, kindly fill in your name by any Sunday that would be convenient for you.  Thanks!

CHURCH BULLETINS - Anyone wishing to sponsor a Sunday bulletin ($20), please contact the church office (459-3313).  We encourage everyone to consider being a sponsor as it offsets the cost of our weekly bulletins.  There is a sign up sheet posted on the bulletin board in the foyer if you’d like to sponsor a bulletin for a particular day.

CHURCH OFFERING – Anyone wanting a church envelope number (an annual tax receipt is issued for all contributions) or anyone interested in signing up for PAR (pre approved remittance - where monthly contributions can be made to the church through your bank), please contact Sue Morrison 458-8150 [email protected].

CHURCH ENVELOPES – Due to the high increase in cost of personalized church envelopes, the Stewards Committee has developed a church envelope that can be used by everyone, at any time.  You will continue to use your current assigned envelope number, but there will now be a space on the envelope to fill in that envelope number and the date, as well as the previous categories of where you would like your offering directed: to Local, M&S, Building, or Other.  And, of course, all offerings will continue to be recorded for your personal income tax purposes.  Envelopes will be available in packs of 20 throughout the year in the church lobby, so you can just pick them up as needed.  Thank you so much for your continued financial support of New Maryland United.
Dorothy Webster, Church Treasurer

MAIL-IN OFFERING – For those who wish to mail in their offering, please mail directly to the church:
   New Maryland United Church
   875 Route 101 Hwy
   Nasonworth, NB E3C 2C1
   Attn: Chair of Stewards Committee

DONATING TO SPECIAL PROJECTS? – If you are assigning some of your weekly offering to “Special Projects” on your church offering envelope, please indicate exactly what fund you want to donate to: Outreach? Food Bank? Cemetery? Memorial? or Sunday School. Your financial support is always appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact Sue Morrison, Chair of Stewards (458-8150).

PAR – Interested in using PAR for your offering? PAR allows you to have automatic bank withdrawals for your offering. If you are interested, there are pamphlets on the table in the foyer. If you have any questions, please contact Sue Morrison (Chair of Stewards) 458-8150.

NMUC LIBRARY – We have a wonderful assortment of books in our little library.  Recently we have acquired a collection of books by NB writers, like Peter Clark and the brothers Wayne and Herb Curtis from the Miramichi.  There’s folk lore and novels and walking guides, all celebrating our province… come have a look!

JIGSAW PUZZLE LIBRARY – Just a reminder that we have a lovely selection of jigsaw puzzles in the mini kitchen (off the sanctuary). They are available to anyone who would like to borrow them.  A great way to pass the time.  Donations of puzzles are greatly appreciated.
