Pam Gonnason, Artist
Pam's Autobiography: From a very early age I have loved art in many forms. I began knitting when I was about 8 and over the years have learned needlework, cross stitch, sewing, scrapbooking, macramé….some have been passing fads, most have remained with me. Painting and knitting have always been my first loves. I am mostly self- taught but have taken some art lessons over the years, through seminars and conventions. I work mainly in acrylics but have dabbled in watercolour and oil.
My brother is an award winning photographer. My other two siblings claim they have no artistic talent but I believe that it is lurking inside everyone, just waiting to be coaxed out. With that in mind, in 1994 I took a huge leap of faith and left my career as an RN to pursue designing and teaching full time. I opened a small studio in our home and for nearly 20 years have welcomed in many students to share my love of art. I have been blessed with a husband and 2 daughters who have tolerated the people coming and going, my paint spattered clothing and my endless ideas!
While my health has forced me to stop teaching and has slowed me down, my studio remains open and I do paint on request for friends and family. Nowadays it is often an overflow room for my furry foster cats and kittens from the SPCA. Which has led me to another idea…pet portraits…I certainly have lot of cute faces to inspire me!
